Google Drive 130.0.2.0 is the free Windows client that syncs your PC with Google's cloud storage, published by Google LLC. Download it for Windows if you want Drive files to appear in File Explorer instead of a browser tab; according to catalogue data, the installer is about 264.65 MB, and this version is dated 18 September 2026.
Google calls the app Drive for desktop. It works with personal Google accounts as well as work and school accounts.
| Windows, 64-bit | Windows 10 and up |
|---|---|
| Windows on ARM64 | Windows 11 and up |
| Windows Server | 2016 and up |
| Mac | macOS Ventura 13.0 or higher |
| Component | Microsoft WebView2 |
32-bit Windows is not supported. WebView2 is usually already part of Windows 11 and most Windows 10 installations, and the installer downloads it automatically if it is missing. One more detail from Google's requirements page: if you sync to a FAT32 drive, a single file cannot be larger than 4 GB.
After setup, Drive shows up as a separate drive letter in File Explorer. You browse the same folder tree you see on the web, open files with ordinary Windows programs and save them back without uploading anything by hand. You can also choose local folders such as Documents or Desktop to back up to the cloud, so a copy survives if the laptop dies. Anything you change on one computer shows up on your other devices and in the browser a moment later. Shared folders, documents from Docs and Sheets, and old archive files all sit in the same place, which is the main reason many people install the client at all rather than dragging files into a web page.
The client is free. Storage is shared across your Google account, so if you need more space you pay for a larger plan, not for the app. Download it only from Google; the service has existed since 24 April 2012, and fake installers riding on its name do show up on mirror sites.
Google publishes a list of changes for each release in the Drive for desktop release notes. Updates install automatically, so the version number mostly matters when you are troubleshooting.
